URGENT NOTE: The following letter was written by one of the concerned citizens leading the charge to recall Mayor Jackie Sikes.
After barely winning election for Mayor of Fairfield Bay, Jackie declared that it was time to “unite” Fairfield Bay.
You’ve all heard the mayor’s calls for unity, but perhaps you haven’t heard what she did when she thought no one was watching….
- Jackie tried to fire one of our city’s elected officials — not understanding how local government worked.
- Jackie sent a “termination letter” to our city’s legal council, because she didn’t want legal oversight. Not just once — but twice!
- Jackie hired friends of hers who refuse to show up for work when it comes to serving the city council.
- Jackie let her “chief advisor” privately target community club and city council members in an email to state officials behind their back, undermining faith in our small city.
- Jackie is BLATANTLY posting photos online of herself taking down promotional signs for Fairfield Bay’s most profitable attraction – the Marina – without telling club officials in ways that could confuse customers and hurt business.
We’ve lost the Moonshine Festival. We will lose far more than that if Mayor Jackie Sikes is allowed to continue.
It’s not with light hearts that we call for the removal of our city’s mayor. Perhaps if the list of damning “Jackie stories” was shorter, we could ignore it. But this moment has been thrust on us by bad decision after bad decision.
We cannot in good conscience allow this to continue. Will the real residents of Fairfield Bay stand up and sign the recall! Enough is enough.
