We previously reported that Mayor Jackie Sikes refused to ask Dollar General to pay city taxes after they moved right outside city limits.

Now Mayor Sikes says that Dollar General made a “smart business move” to avoid Fairfield Bay! She even said if the Fairfield Bay Community Club was smart, they would not have built a business in Fairfield Bay either!

Mayor Jackie Says Businesses Should Avoid City Limits

In a video released on Facebook, Mayor Jackie said that Dollar General was right to avoid paying taxes while profiting off local residents.

In a public video to the Community Club, Mayor Jackie said the Fairfield Bay Community Club should have avoided paying city taxes by not building a business in the city.

You can watch the video below.

Discouraging businesses from building inside city limits is wrong for any mayor. Period.

I live in Shirley and thought what a ignorant thing to say. She doesn’t sound like she’s for the city. But against the City, against the city council members, against the chamber of commerce, against the Community Club and I was told she drove the Moonshine folks away. Now she’s showing her true colors. I was told by all my friends in Clinton they were glad to get rid of her. She is liked. She’s the one who is ruining Fairfield bay. I was appalled and disgusted when I watched the video. They need the business revenue to operate the city expenses. Telling businesses to not move here is sabotage. Sign the petition for recall. Doesn’t deserve to be mayor.
