Mayor Jackie Sikes once promised she would bring “unity” to Fairfield Bay.
Here’s how that’s going…
Mayor Jackie is now attending protests to SHUT DOWN the very organization that runs Fairfield Bay’s swimming pools and Marina. She’s doing it after a business allegedly didn’t pay its bills and had its sewer shut off.
Beaver Liquors Drama
Mayor Jackie Sikes attended a protest with roughly 20 people holding signs calling for the Fairfield Bay Community Club to be abolished.
These protestors claim local business Beaver Liquors was shut down illegally by the Fairfield Bay Community Club.
The protests happened after Beaver Liquors was forced to close its doors for a few days because they had their sewer disconnected. Now Jackie’s holding signs accusing the Community Club of wrongdoing.
Photos of her in these protests are being shared across social media and are damaging our city.
In reality, the club says the owner of Beaver Liquors simply did not pay her sewer fees.
That doesn’t seem to matter to the protestors.
Protestors carried signs saying “Tired of Byard,” as if he has anything to do with local businesses allegedly not paying their bills.
There’s Mysteriously No Lawsuit Against The Club
Interestingly, the owner of Beaver Liquor has not filed a lawsuit against the Community Club, even after she alleges her business was targeted illegally. Her reason? She claims the Community Club is “broke” and isn’t worth suing.
On Facebook, she wrote:
“There will be no financial gain to sue the club at this point. They are broke and have run out of insurance to cover anymore lawsuits.”
If your business was targeted illegally, would you randomly decide not to sue?
The fact there’s no lawsuit raises questions about what really happened.
Regardless, the fact that our mayor is taking part in these protests while serving as mayor of our city is disgraceful.
